Two Things up at Bat

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

1.) I finally got Rex on video signing! Darrien too! Those two absorb so much information in a day, its insane. I’m having trouble getting the video files onto my computer for further editing so no videos to upload atm (but will have them soon.. hopefully, lol).

2.) http://www.EngineeringIdeas.net is up and running. Its a little project of mine that is picking up quite nicely. Luckily, I have a lot of friends who are Engineering majors too. Woot. :)

What Did We Get The Manny?

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

This holiday season Happy Panda thought it was appropriate to help The Manny out with this nifty 2008 planning system from Franklin Covey. The system also features a cd titled “The 8th Habit.” We hope that he will find this planner useful as he heads off to his final year at community college. At some point maybe he will blog about this planner and tell us what the 8th habit entails.

LONG over due update from The Manny

Manny: “Two video’s that I finally got a chance to upload.
Rex can walk pretty fast now, I almost tripped trying to keep up going backwards.”

Question to the Manny

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Question from Doug: “Have you ever thought of being a manny professionally after you finish college?”

Answer from the Manny: “The way I see it, there’s no point in pursuing Electrical Engineering and deal with all of this calculus to end up being a Manny the rest of my life. I love kids, but the next ones I take care of will be my own. (After college of course) Thanks for the question :)”

Question for the Manny

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Question from Steve: “Have you ever had to take care of Rex when he was sick with the flu or had diarea or anything else?”

Answer from the Manny: Yes. This past week some form of plague hit the house and pretty much everyone was sick. On top of that, Rex ended up being allergic to his antibiotic, so after he was well he was very cranky because of the allergic reaction. Besides sickness related diaper changes, fruit isn’t to kind to the person changing the diaper either, lol :) Thanks for the question.

Question for the Manny

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

Question from John: How many toddlers do you think you could handle at once?

Answer from the Manny: A toddler and a 7 year old is pretty challenging as it is. If you can keep the toddlers in the same room, then hypothetically I could probably handle 3.. tops. BUT, the challenge is, of course, keeping them in the same room. :)

Hide & Seek with my keys

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

It started when I let him play with my cell phone (its an old, beaten up version– a little drool won’t hurt it) and my keys. A few hours went by and I forgot where the last place was that Rex had my keys. Click here for the rest of this story from The Manny.

Lesha wants to know, “What made you become a Manny?”

From the Manny: It was an opportunity I felt was too good to pass up. It offered more convenient hours for school, a FAR greater work enviroment, and the opportunity to get out of retail. Since I’ve become the Manny, I’ve learned things I never would have had a chance to learn if I was still stocking shelves or working the cash register at Walgreens. I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything. Well maybe for $1,000,000… but then I could just invest my cash and try the Manny thing all over again. :p

Jenny asks, “What does it feel like from a man’s perspective to feed a baby or change a diaper especially as young as you are? What made you want to be a Manny instead of for instance, mastering the latest video game?

From the Manny: It’s a learning experience. I know I will be more prepared later on in life when its time to be the Dad. Video games become boring and repetitive with time, but children constantly change and force you to adapt. I think thats pretty good training for the future business world if you ask me. ;)

Diane wants to know “Was it hard for you to change your first few diapers or did it come naturally?”

From the Manny: I’ll admit the first few were.. interesting to say the least, but after awhile I got the hang of it. I can now change a diaper in under a minute :).

Karla asks, “Can you share your thoughts/feelings about when your children were born?”

From the Manny:I’m sure the feeling is pretty indescribable when your child is born, but as of this day I have yet to experience it. I am merely the Manny of the children, not their father :). More of a big brother.

Laura Williams says, Now “The Manny” is a super cool title. What do your friends think about your title? Do they rib you or crack jokes?

From the Manny: At first a few of them did, until they realized how much they hated their retail jobs. (I left retail to be a Manny. Best choice EVER.) Now everyone views it as just another job, and I love what I do. ;)

BJHBHB writes, “My question is this: How much would you charge to be a MANNY of 5 kids - ages newborn to 10? I live in Texas!”

From the Manny: Any chance you live by A&M College Station? lol :), but as of now my current rate is $5 per child per hour.
